How to find remote jobs you can do from Nigeria

Check eligibility, working hours and practical requirements before spending time on a remote application.

Read beyond the word remote

Remote describes where work happens; it does not automatically mean an employer can hire someone in every country. Look for a candidate-location field and read the full description. Worldwide, Africa and Nigeria are useful search terms, but the employer may still specify working hours, travel or other requirements.

Remotive allows employers to state country and region restrictions. Treat a label as a starting point. If a role says US-only, working from home in Nigeria does not make you eligible. Do not enter a false address to pass an application form.

Build a shortlist you can pursue

Start with one or two role families that fit your evidence, such as customer support, design or bookkeeping. Search for work you can demonstrate rather than only searching for remote. Read the duties and experience requirements before saving a vacancy.

Record the employer, link, eligible locations, required hours and application status. Reject clear location mismatches early. For uncertain roles, ask: "Can someone currently resident in Nigeria perform this role, and what working-hour overlap is required?" An answer can save you from preparing an application that cannot be considered.

Check the schedule and working arrangement

Ask which time zone the stated hours use and whether the schedule changes during the year. Required overlap with a team is different from a fully flexible schedule. Consider sleep, family commitments and any other work before agreeing.

Confirm whether the offer is employment, a fixed project or ongoing contractor services. Ask how work is assigned and who supplies equipment. If contractual or tax responsibilities are unclear, obtain appropriate advice before signing rather than assuming the arrangement works like a local salaried job.

Demonstrate reliable independent work

Prepare an example of delivering work without constant supervision. This could be a project plan, a clear written update or a completed task with documented decisions. Explain your own contribution and how you kept others informed. Share only material you have permission to disclose.

Check device, connection and workspace requirements. Estimate data and power costs and ask about employer support. Be honest about your setup. If you lack a required device, ask whether it is supplied rather than claiming you already have it.

Confirm payment and protect your information

Ask for the payment currency, frequency, method and fees you would bear. Confirm how work is accepted and paid for. A quoted foreign-currency amount is not necessarily what reaches your account. Check that the payment method is available to you before accepting.

Never deposit money to unlock supposed task earnings or send an OTP to a recruiter. Verify the employer independently and retain the written offer. Fresh Naija Jobs partner links open external services: read the source listing before applying. A worldwide label does not guarantee that you meet every requirement.
